Link up...

I'm on a bunch of sites that keep profile data and a social graph. A couple of them, I regularly use. I try to keep an annoyingly complete list here.

If I know you, or you think I'm interesting, feel free to try to link up from your own commonly used accounts.

First of all, there is my LiveJournal, where my main personal blog is.

Flickr is where I put my shared pictures. Twitter, for random thoughts. DodgeBall is a way to bump into me in Seattle or wherever. Dopplr, likewise, for the whole world. LibraryThing is where I catalog my books. And finally, I've got a MySpace, just because so many people use it.

LinkedIn appears to have become the social network for what used to be called "networking", for business, career, jobhunting, and sales. It seems to mainly have a corporate focus. BizNik is more focused on self-employed service providers.

I am so looking forward to the coming day when all these silos break apart under the solvent of interchange protocols.

I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed by all the networking places where I have profiles and/or blogs and/or whatever. LJ, of course. tribe.net, okcupid, imeeem, facebook, youtube. It's all so...much.

Marketing will never allow it to happen. Each site has its "Brand" which they don't want diluted.

It's like what you were talking about in a previous post - the portable profile - right? I'm trying to think of another arena in which people are able to port their information and can't... except maybe law enforcement...? Wait, Yahoo and Flickr are linked.
