[livejournal.com profile] omahas has been out of town on business, and [livejournal.com profile] elfs has spent the week being frazzled playing the employed single dad game. They had forgotten that I was scheduled to take Kouryou and Yamarashi off his hands for the evening. A bit of email, a bit of phone, and it all got straightened out.

I went down to Burien and got the girls ready while he transferred the kidseats. Then I left him behind and too them up to the UW, were we linked up with [livejournal.com profile] intrepid_reason, who was our sponsor for the evenings event. She works for UW C&C, and that department had reserved the games area in the UW Hub.

So we all enjoyed pizza, bowling, air hockey, and DanceDanceRevolution. I bowled with my own ball, but the return machine was filthy, I will have to put my ball in the polisher this next Monday.

After the end of the party, we went up to the AlohaHaus for cake and ice cream, and rendezvoused with Elf. The girls enjoyed their treat, then went up to my room to pet the cats while the grownups hung out a bit. Then Elf left with the girls, and I returned Leslie to her car.

A fun evening.

So a competitor to LibraryThing just came online, called Shelfari. LibraryThing feels more complete and more responsive, and Shelfari cannot yet do imports, and no frakking way am I adding my library to it one book at a time.

The new Battlestar Galaticia season premire, Scattered so rocked. I PVRed it at home, at work, and also grabbed it off the `torrent.

Yesterday was the weekly bisocial. Nine people, including [livejournal.com profile] amythis. I had a very nice evening afterwards, even tho I had to deal with my cats being intrusive and jealous.

I've spent much of my awake time so far today practicing for the salon this afternoon. Menuette I in C Major by Mozart, and Children at Play by Bartók. And then I will be done with those pieces, at least for a while.

I watched the Lake Union fireworks while hiking down to Gasworks Park. It was a great show but a huge crowd.

While hiking back to my car (I was wearing my UtiliKilt), I got one "what do you wear under that?" from some guy (the answer is "my boots"), and one whistle and "Nice Legs!" from a girl in a passing car.

Afterwards, I went to [livejournal.com profile] kespernorth and [livejournal.com profile] chemicallace's after-fireworks party.

The pre-4th party at [livejournal.com profile] j5nn5r and [livejournal.com profile] desiraes's was enjoyable. Yummy BBQ, good company, good people all of who's LJ names I don't know. RC helicopters and aircraft. Hottubs. Social support for folks in hard situations. Backrubs.

Thanks everyone!

If I was a decade younger, I would have just stayed up this morning, and gone straight to Pride. But instead, I slept `till 1pm, and made it to the park at 3, where I met up with [livejournal.com profile] omahas, [livejournal.com profile] elfs, Kouryou-chan & Yamaarashi-chan.

Despite missing the parade, and even with the streams of people leaving as I was walking in, it was still a full crowd of interestingly dressed and appearing people.

It was free of MoveOn morons with bullhorns (the people who pissed me off to no-end at Pride a couple of years ago), and I was willing to forgive the Bubble Man his anti-new-housing and his anti-computer-game rants because he was so good at entertaining a crowd of enthusiastically blissed kids with his ersatz bubble makers.

Two hours was just about the right amount of time to spend there.

I met up later with [livejournal.com profile] tygereclipse, and she introduced me to a fun greasy spoon diner on Aurora that is known for good food and take-no-shit staff.

I havn't gone to sleep yet, so it's still Saturday.

I was very slow to wake up this morning, and my bed kept calling me to return, a temptation to which I succumed several times.

[livejournal.com profile] judyg called me just before I did get out, so I chatted with her on speakerphone as I drove from Kirkland to the Golden Gardens Park beach in Ballard. She is doing well. Her new tonkanese cat has taken the name "Rafael", and he loves her much, especially after she convienced him that it was okay to sleep in her bed with her.

The morning had been grey and threatening, but it was a beautiful bright low seventies.

The event at Golden Gardens was [livejournal.com profile] animegothgrrl's birthday party. A number of fun and pretty people were there.

Amusingly, the next pavilion over was the UtiliKilts annual summer beach party.

At just before 7pm, with the sun still high in the sky, I went to the Metaphorist geekhaus, for the Gaia Consort house concert and party. The concert itself was fun, and the party after was a blast. The house was *stuffed*, and full of many much fun folks.

I finally got to chat with [livejournal.com profile] solcita, and was amused to learn that one of her friends is friends with my sister [livejournal.com profile] wyckhurst.

I also met [livejournal.com profile] neocuriosity, and got to know her.

At 4am, the party was about over, so I made my way home. Here is is just past five, and the sun is coming up.
