After dropping [livejournal.com profile] amythis off at the ferry terminal at midnight, I started on the doomed task of feeding [livejournal.com profile] jezel's cats. I was supposed to do them Thursday afternoon, but I had forgotten the keys, and the property manager did not pick up the phone.

So drive drive drive to Kirkland, to get the keys. Search search search, find them. Drive drive drive to West Seattle. They were, of course, not the right keys. Drive drive drive back to Kirkland. Unpack and search all of the boxes, jars, and drawers of "random small stuff". Unpack and search everything in my car. I rediscovered many things, but not the keys. Collapse to bed at 5am.

Get up the next morning at 10am, go into work, quick process my email and answer some questions, stick a note to my computer, and then head back to West Seattle. I try finding the onsite manager, or anybody with a key. No joy. The off-site property manager coincidentally showed up. But, this stroke of luck was dashed, she didn't have a key either. How the HELL does this place do an emergency entry? Kick in the door?!

Got [livejournal.com profile] jezel on the phone. She was going to be back before too many more hours passed anyway. Still, the poor cats. (Later, after she got back, we learned that her bf had come over, the cats had indeed been fed. Wheww.)

After that, I hopped down to White City and got a big bunch of "get well" balloons for [livejournal.com profile] tonyawinter. Balloons make people happy, but dont accumulate as "stuff".

Then up to the U District for my first (and MUCH needed) haircut from [livejournal.com profile] imflying, who I had originally met at the Merc, and then later at this year's Pride. She did a great job. I think she's now hired as my regular hair person.

Then I went to the Vivace to get some work done. WiFi and VPN, two great technologies that work great together. While I was there, I met [livejournal.com profile] kespernorth. We chatted a bit about his new job at SourceLabs, our old jobs at F5, extreme programming, and science fiction writers.

Several hours later, I called up [livejournal.com profile] sierra_faye1, and we met up to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Some people I know didn't like the new Oompa-loompas, but I thought they were great. And the fact that they kept the original Dahl songs, but set them to bollywood and hollywood musical styles was great. The end was a bit muddled, but it was in the book as well.

In case you were still wondering why I remember you...

Not only do I have a good memory, but I remember at the time I met you that you looked faintly like someone I once knew...

How frustrating the key/cat situation sounds!

I'm glad you liked the Oompa-Loompa musical numbers. I found the psycho-history of Willy Wonka unnecessary.
